Music Club

epsteelHours lost, beers drunk in vein, effort of crossing London on a regular basis wasted and Chris’s reports upon returning; “We got drunk, but I don’t know if we wrote any music”. These were the spoils from the late 2007 practices and acoustic song writing sessions of Music Club, a post-Ekocam project by Chris Amblin, Lewis Baker and Simon Thompson. The lost sessions fell quickly to the back of the cupboard as time went on, while the digital dictaphone recordings of the musical brainstorms, shared via email as a post-meeting reminder of ideas, slipped quietly to the bottom of our inboxes.

Until now that is. Music Club has risen like a phoenix from the digital ashes. The River of Steel EP is a re-mixed, re-ordered, seasoned, marinated and slow-roasted side-order of the band that could have been, giving the world a taste of the main course, ‘the album that never was’. Their time never came, their moment never arrived. But this small insight into the creative talent imprisoned by boose and laziness will open your eyes to… [Lewis interrupts] Oh just shut up and play the f**ing song!

UndeadPosterThis Halloween, darkness will rise, and the dead won’t stay dead. The world needs a hero and Jack Savage knows how to kick undead ass. 

Jamie Stanton‘s latest offering to the short film genre was written by Gary Scullion and features Luke Allen-Gale, Matt Ellis, and Sonya Cassidy with a score by Liam Tate. Not forgetting re-recording and sound design by Simon Thompson, check it out out in the Portfolio section soon.

‘Fly My Pretties’ is the audio-based weapon conceived by the lethal duo of Simon Thompson and Jamie Brown. With a definitive mission to completely destroy the world, they have started by brutally torturing their built-in sound cards and have published for the world cries of pain that emerged from their computers soul as it slowly bled out of the speakers. 

Now, with the secrets and the stories that Simon and Jamie pulled from the electronic abyss by force, they have tamed and tuned the binary data into a raucous rendering that the world can relish.

If your curiosity urges you, begs you hear what the dying whispers of PCM3052 dribbled to the world, then listen, listen to its murmuring as it drifted away. Listen to it float in and out of consciousness as it is mercilessly abused. Listen to this small selection of the noises it made during its last hours under the torturers implements. Listen, and if it hypnotizes you as it hypnotizes all of us, then await the coming of the first EP with bated breath and sweaty palms. Listen and do not be afraid.
